Restaurant Experience Texx Smith actually has over 20 years of restaurant experience.

The owner of St. Petersburg Web Design, Texx Smith, doesn't really like to talk about things that give away his age. But we were able to pry some specifics about his work experience before he began web design in 1995. Way back in, well, a long time ago, when he was looking for his first job, Texx's parents told him "As much as you eat, you need to work in a restaurant." He thought it was good advice and got a job at a Mexican restaurant in Ft. Worth Texas. After a year or so there he moved on to fine dining establishments and eventually worked himself up to being a kitchen manger and/or Sous Chef.

In the early 90's he began to dabble with web design as a hobby. Within a year or so people began to offer him money to create web sites for them. By 1995 he had paying business clients. Then came the fateful day of September 11th, 2001. Texx was in Florida at the time. Heavily invested in the tourism industry, Florida's restaurants starting closing one in droves. Confronted with a surplus of inexpensive illegal immigrant labor and an extreme shortage in restaurant opportunities, Texx took a leap of Faith and became a full time web designer. He says he's never been happier. Now when he cooks he says it's fun and he still gets to make beautiful things every day.
